Hello!
Thanks for all the nice comments and emails, while I have been away/busy!
I have been working a whole lot of over time lately and am trying to finish up with school, so that is why I have been lacking with posts. To fix that, I enlisted the help of someone else to help me keep this updated. So....
in the next week or so, plan on things being back to four or five posts a week. I figure, if I update twice and the guest blogger posts twice a week, things should be back to normal.
Also, we are working on re-upping all the downed links, so look forward to that as well.

Samhain- Live At The Ritz 7-14-86 w/ soundboard quality

Here is a superb quality Samhain set from when they played at the Ritz. This is soundboard quality, so you can clearly hear everything going on.
Everyone knows about Samhain, Danzig's band after the Misfits, blah blah blah. There are quite a few hits played here, including a couple Misfits songs.
I think this is some of the best stuff Danzig has done. Years ago, Samhain was doing a reunion tour and I had tickets for that for months, there was no way I was missing Samhain. So the day of the show, lots of people called me to go with them, but I denied them all because I didn't want to let me seeing Samhain be up to someone else and their car. So it was time to go and my car won't start! I called other people but no one was home, they all had left for the show! Oh no! This was before any of us had cell phones too, so contacting someone when they weren't at home was no easy deal. So I open the hood of the car and I don't know shit about cars, so I get mad and punch the battery. I'm about to give up and accept defeat and I figure I'll try to start it one more time... and... it started! Oh joy! I was a but worried that I would get downtown and it wouldn't start after the show, but it did and the night was great. Samhain... fuck, what a great band!

Altercation- Rehearsal

Here is a rare Altercation rehearsal. Altercation is a pretty unknown NYHC band, who only released a demo. Most people who are fans of this type of music hold them in pretty high regard. The demo and WNYU set can be found anywhere online, but this rehearsal is a little bit harder to find.

Half Off- Live At Berkely, CA 3-10-87

Here is a live set from the cool hardcore band Half Off. Sorry for using the art for their LP for the heading on this post, but it was all I could find!
Half Off is known for their free thinking lyrics which clashed with a lot of the straight edge bands of the time, especially since the singer, Billy Rubin, was pretty outspoken about it. Bypassing all that silly drama, the music is pretty cool, actually having a lot in common with straight edge bands of the time.

Dmize- Backlash aka Demo Collection...

Here is a bootleg CD that contains all three demos recorded by New York Hard Core band Dmize.
This is really good. It reminds me of a harder version of what bands like Breakdown and Occupied Territory were doing.
Luckily for us, the music never wanders into boring metal core territory. Also, luckily for us, the music here is fast paced. The guitar solos on here are odd. They are played really well, but a few of them sound like they could have been stolen from an early Obituary record, which is not a bad thing. It's good too, because they all fit in perfectly with the music.
They went through a couple singers on these demos, but to me, they both do a fine job.
Listen to the beginning of the song "US", holy shit, such a great crushing beginning to a song, I imagine walls of people destroying each other.
If people like this, I will upload the WNYU set from Dmize.

Artificial Peace- Discography

Here is everything recorded from early DC/MD hardcore band Artificial Peace.
This is great! The music is fast but throws in some cool slower parts to keep things interesting. Almost none of these songs are over a minute long. That is not a bad thing though, like it might be in some horribly shitty power violence band. They manage to keep things interesting all the time, even in a song like UXB, which is only nineteen seconds long. You see, it's not just a minute of noise and yelling. The songs have substance and meaning to them. After this band was over, they formed Marginal Man, who were fantastic, in my opinion.
Here is some info I found online about the history of Artificial Peace...

"In the late summer of 1981, Janelle Brooks started throwing shows in the basement of her parents' house in Potomac, Maryland. Usually these parties would feature five or six bands, who were usually happy to share their gear with each other. Most of their songs were only a minute long, and therefore the sets tended to be really brief. There was a pole in the middle of the capeted rec-room that everyone danced around and between bands people hung out all over the house and in the yards.

In September, one of these shows featured the end of 3 bands: Assault and Battery, Minor Threat and Red C. Things moved quickly in the punk scene at the point and bands would come and go, so it wasn't a surprise that a new band formed by Pete from Red C along with Mike, Rob, and Steve of Assault and Battery played Janelle's next party just three weeks later.

Mike's bass drum head had an upside down peace-sign painted on it and the name of the band was Artificial Peace. They were solid and fast and they quickly managed to bulid one of the largest followings of all of the early bands. They were one of the first DC area bands to play out of town, always making it a point to announce that they were from Bethesda, a city just across the DC line in Maryland. Ian MacKaye recorded a 19 song demo with them at Inner Ear and three of those songs appear on the Flex Your Head comp. They also released a split 7'' with Exiled on Fountain of Youth. The band would call it quits in summer 1982. Then later form Marginal Man."

Pagan Babies- Next LP

Here is the Pagan Babies LP from 1988.
It sounds a lot different than you would expect from a hardcore band in 1988. But that does not mean it is bad, because it is quite good. I don't know a whole lot about this band besides that they were from Philadelphia and that the drummer is really good at artwork.

RF7- Fall In 12"

Here is the wonderful RF7 'Fall In' 12" from 1982.
"RF7 was formed in 1979, in Simi Valley California. They first appeared on vinyl on the much-acclaimed compilation "Public Service." "Public Service" also included the first recordings from Bad Religion and Circle One, as well as songs from pre-teen veterans Redd Kross. Over twenty thousand copies of "Public Service" were sold, and this gave RF7 much exposure and credibility through association. A following friendship with Redd Kross helped RF7 obtain key bookings with The Circle Jerks, The Chiefs, Fear, The Dead Kennedy's and more. They were also able to record their own first album, "Weight of the World," which lead to touring outside of the LA area."
I think this is the record where the band sounds the best. The two before it are also good, but this one has the speed and power which, to me, makes it the most memorable one. This band is still around today, releasing records and playing shows. Check them out.

Rest In Pieces- 7"

Here is the 7" from New York hardcore band Rest In Pieces.
This record shows a band in its early stages, far from the glory they would achieve with the 'Nose' demo and the amazing 'My Rage' LP, which is available elsewhere on this site. That's not to say that this is a terrible record, because it is not. There are even a couple memorable songs here. Check it out and then get the My Rage LP. Enjoy!

Faith- Live On WMUC 1981

Here is a cool radio set from early DC hardcore band, The Faith.
The Faith were known for having Alec Mackaye, brother of Ian Mackaye, as their singer. Their music was like a lot of DC hardcore of the time, but they had a melodic edge that set them apart. There are nineteen songs here, including all of the hits, like 'Subject To Change' and 'You're X'ed'. The sound is good and I think the music holds up really well.

45 Grave- Autopsy

Here is the great 45 Grave 'Autopsy' LP. This is a sort of a compilation LP, as it has the first 7", demos and rare songs. The demo songs are of extra note since Pat Smear plays guitar on them.
45 Grave was one of the first 'horror punk' bands and are still around today, in some form or another. The music on here is classic LA punk. I think they pulled off the horror image quite well, without making it seem overly comical, even though many of the bands songs had a good sense of humor.
There is some amazing music here, 'Eye', 'Choices', 'Polyunsaturated Blood', etc. All wonderful songs!
Anyways, this is really good music and I hope that you enjoy it!

Token Entry- Live At The Wetlands, New York City 6-4-95

Here is a live set from a Token Entry reunion in 1995.
Token Entry was always a million times better lives than on record. Their first two LP's are still good and listenable, but they don't match the fury and intensity of a live performance.
Story time! When I was a young warrior, growing up, there was this record story called Harmony Park. The guy who ran it was obsessed with frogs, and had the entire back wall of his store filled with frog memorabilia, just thousands and thousands of anything having to do with frogs. He was a cool guy though. So one day, I went up there and on my way, I see a Frogger video game sitting on the curb, waiting to be picked up with the trash. So I get to the store and am looking around and I see a Token Entry shirt for sale. Fuck, I had no job and no money, so...
"Hey, I'll trade you a Frogger arcade game for this Token Entry shirt."
"Does it work?"
"No, but it would make a nice addition to your collection."
"Deal, bring it up here and the shirt is yours"
So I walked back to where I saw it, and dragged that thing all the way to the store. I did drag it too, because the wheels on it were broken. I get back to the store and I asked him to help me bring it in and he's like, "Holy shit! I thought you meant a game for Nintendo or something! You can pick out some other stuff too!" Somehow, he got that game working too, because the next time I was there, he was playing it. Haha. Anyways, that is how I got that great Token Entry shirt, that I still have packed away somewhere.
I don't know much about this reunion set, but the sound is cool and you can hear a lot of crowd interaction. Great band. Great set. Enjoy!

TSOL- Live At The Roller Dome 11/20/82

Here is a great live set from my all time favorite band, TSOL!
This set is from 1982. The sound quality is superb and there is a great mix of material from the first three records. Fuck, what an amazing band. Some of these songs are 28 years old but they still sound fantastic. 'Die For Me', 'Beneath The Shadows', 'World War III' and the list goes on. Amazing songs. I always thought this band was the greatest because they could write ruling fast songs but then follow them up with killer slow, atmospheric songs, that were just as good as the fast songs. The best band. Enjoy the music!

Red Cross- Teen Babes From Montesanto

Here is a cool ep of cover songs from Red Cross. Well, Redd Kross, but I hate that spelling, so it's Red Cross to me. Anyways, this is all cover songs. They cover all kinds of music, from The Rolling Stones to David Bowie. All music that I normally don't really like at all. But they pull it off really well here. This is cool too because soon after this, Red Cross would take their music in a whole different direction and this covers record is like they covered one song each from the music that would influence their later material. What a great band. Enjoy the music!

Red Cross- Annette's Got The Hits

Here is the first Red Cross ep, from before the spelling change in the name and from before they added other influences. This is fantastic early SoCal punk. Six songs. All classics.
It is weird listening to this band, this record is straight forward catchy punk but their later material has more rock influences but keeps the intensity of the earlier songs.
The songs on here are so good. The highlights are 'I Hate My School' with the memorable opening bass line and 'S&M Party' with its killer guitar lines.
This has always been one of my favorites and I hope you like it too! Enjoy the music!

Authorities- Soundtrack For Trouble 7"

Here is the amazing Authorities 'Soundtrack For Trouble' 7". This fits in good with the time it came out... 1982... California. The songs are fast but have that that amazing melodic sense about them that makes them instantly memorable and good for endless listens. There are some cynical lyrics too.
I had this 7" for years and a friend I grew up with was convinced that they were racist. in 'I Hate Cops' he's like, "I hate cops, they're all fucking piggers...". Well this kid was convinced he said something else besides piggers. Something that rhtymes with piggers. Well, that's definately not the case. Anyways, great record. Enjoy the music!

Battalion Of Saints- Fighting Boys 12"

Here is the Battalion Of Saints 'Fighting Boys' 12".
This is a great example of some early hardcore. The songs are fast but they don't lose the tuneful and melodic edge that makes them memorable. They knew how to write some cool hooks, especially in the title song.
Battalion Of Saints appeared to be a death trap for everyone involved, besides the singer...
"The mainstay of the band is the singer, George Anthony. Most of the other original members of the band either quit or died during their first stint. Guitarist Chris Smith overdosed and drowned, bassist Barry Farwell died of drug related health problems, Dave Astor blew his brains out, and Don Diaz died of AIDS. By the time they broke up in '85, the band went through nearly a dozen different members, and others who were short lived."
The band released a lot of great tunes, this, the Second Coming LP, the demo (that is available elsewhere on this blog), 7"'s, comp songs, etc. Great band. I hope you enjoy the music!

Rancor- Discography

Here is everything from the great Rancor.
Rancor was a hardcore band from Allentown PA in the late 90's. They came out around the same time as Floorpunch, Ten Yard Fight and others did, to rescue us from the metalcore nightmare that hardcore had become. Some of my favorite show memories from that time involve shows that Rancor played. Like the Yuletide Youth Crew Fest at 180 Club in Maryland. Or the first time Floorpunch played Buffalo at that place on Military Ave. Fuck, so many great shows and some of the best times I have had in life. Every weekend, we would travel to some great show, somewhere on the east coast.
The singer of this band was was one of the best of all time, super animated and bounding all over the place. His head would turn bright red when they played because he would get so worked up during the songs. I always think of that when someone asks me about this band.

Visual Discrimination- We Got The Edge

Here is everything that Visual Discrimination ever recorded.
Visual Discrimination was a late 80's hardcore band from California. They had a much harder sound than a lot of the other straight edge bands from California around the same time. I've often heard them described as a late 80's California version of New York Hardcore. That description is not far off either.
Members from this band later went on to be in A Chorus Of Disapproval, where they recorded some good tunes and ruined lives with the ugly stick. Haha.

Legal Weapon- Your Weapon

Here is the great Legal Wepaon 'Your Weapon' LP from 1982.
Legal Weapon was a really talented band from Los Angeles in the early 80's. All of their early material is amazing, but this LP is the best, in my opinion. This is strong melodic punk with female vocals. She can carry a tune and can effortlessly go from angry and pissed to quality singing. Man, I hate when there are female singers who have that squeaky shriek voice. I can't stand that shit. Well, if you can imagine the exact opposite of that, it is found here. Besides the stellar singing, there is also the musicianship of Frank Agnew ( Adolescents, Social Distortion, TSOL and brother of guitar wizard Rikk Agnew) and Steve Soto (from Adolescents and Agent Orange). The songs here go from fast to slow, but they are all filled with hooks and lines that will stick in your head. This is top notch music. If people are interested, I can post some of their other records. Enjoy the music!

Moondog- Demo 1990

Here is the Moondog demo from 1990.
This might have even come out before 1990 but my copy is labeled 1990 so that is how I will post it. Moondog came after Gorilla Biscuits and have a similar sound, but with a lot of progression in song writing, if that makes sense. Gorilla Biscuits even covered 'Distance' many times. The songs here are really well written and I think its some of the best stuff Walter has written. This thing has been bootlegged over and over again. I had a bootleg 7" of this with the shittiest sound quality imaginable. Later on, someone gave me another one, which had really good sound quality. I read that a proper release is in the works and that is good.

Stains- self titled LP

Here is the superb Stains self titled LP from 1983.
The band formed in the late 70s. I found this piece of band history... "Back in 1980, the East L.A. punk scene was constantly being overshadowed by the already established strongholds in Hollywood and the South Bay. Recognizing the need for a place to call their own, a couple of members of Los Illegals created The Vex. Located on the second floor of an arts center at the corner of Brooklyn and Gage, The Vex became the home to several bands, including Los Illegals, The Brat, The Odd Squad, Thee Undertakers and The Stains. Black Flag's Greg Ginn took a liking to The Stains and decided to release their full length debut on SST Records. Released in 1983, "The Stains" (SST 010) is one of the true undiscovered gems of the SST catalog. Recorded at Media Access Studios by Spot, this record spits forth a venom that is impossible to ignore".
SST is retarded. You can go to any record store and find any one of those terrible piece of shit instrumental Black Flag records but this elusive gem remains out of print for years. Oh well. Here it is. Enjoy the music!

Absolution- 1988 Demo

Here is a golden find. It's the Absolution demo from 1988. There are thirteen songs and its all amazing.
Absolution took the standard New York Hard Core sound and went all over the place with it. The people in this band had skill. There is so much going on in these songs. There are enough riffs in each song to make three or four songs for a regular band. But not Absolution. Every song is a complex deal, but that is where you know they are gold. They have all these great complex songs, with all these amazing parts, and it never gets boring. Not even once. Enjoy the music!

Suicidal Tendencies- Mystic Demo + Live At The Rollerworks 1983

Here is a double treat of great old Suicidal Tendencies stuff.
Suicidal Tendencies were one of the first punk bands to incorporate metal into their sound. They were also the first punk band to sell a lot of records. I don't care about that at all though. What I do care about are the great songs this band put out.
First here, is the Mystic demo. The sound on this isn't the greatest, but it's not unlistenable either. It's notable for the presence of the great song 'Kill', which there is a video of floating around on the internet. That song rules. I also included a live set from the Rollerworks in 1983. This set is from before the first LP came out. Most of the LP songs are here too. The sound quality of this live set is great. Enjoy the music!

Circle One- 1980 Demo + 1981 Demo

Here are two demos from Circle One. One is from 1980 and the other is from 1981.
Circle One is one of my all time favorite bands. I could go on and on for pages about how great I know they are.
Circle One was a fantastic hardcore bands from LA in the early 80's. Their LP, 'Patterns Of Force' easily makes my top records of all time and it is available elsewhere on this blog. I think you should download it right away.
Some of the songs on these demos, 'One Chord' and 'In This City', are about as simple as a song can be. Then as the songs progress, you get longer and even more wonderful songs such as 'Highway Patrolman', which is one of their best songs. Something cool about this band is that their slower songs are just as powerful and exciting as their fast songs. I love how 'Highway Patrolman' goes from slow to real fast and then slows down a bit for the chorus. Also here is the great 'Highschool Society' with its very simple, yet memorable chorus. The vocals here are a bit different than the LP, but who cares? To me, everything this band did is golden. Fuck, what a great band! People don't make tunes like this anymore. Enjoy the music!

The Klan- Pushin' Too Hard ep

Here is The Klan ep from 1980. This is very early LA punk. In fact, the band had been around for a while before this was recorded. I was told that The Flyboys had some extra recording time, four hours, when they were done recording their ep, and so form that time came this ep from The Klan.
The first song, 'Pushin' Too Hard', is a cover of The Seeds song of the same name. The song would later appear on a Rodney On The ROQ comp and received a lot of airplay on his radio show. The other song, 'Cover Girls', is an original and has lyrics that are sure to bum out some people. Who cares though? The song is a memorable treat.
I am not aware of any other studio recordings from this band, besides what I have talked about here. There are lots of rehearsal tapes and live recordings going around, so if you have the chance to get those, please do so, as they are great.

Wasted Youth- Live At The Whiskey- 08/03/81

Here is a cool set from Wasted Youth from 1981.
Wasted Youth were a hardcore punk band from LA in the early 80's. They had two official releases. The first was the 'Reagan's In' LP, which is a great example of early 80's hardcore punk. Great record. The second LP is a failed attempt at a more metal approach. There are a couple decent songs, but as a whole, the record get a big fail. Get 'Reagan's In' though.
This live set is pretty good too. In fact, based on this set and others that I have, I think this band was better live than on record. The sound seems more angry and furious than on the LP.

Rebel Truth- s/t 7"

Here is the great Rebel Truth s/t 7".
This record is wonderful and a good example of early CA hardcore. Some parts remind me of Articles Of Faith, but they don't sound anything like that band at all. They had a great urgent sound and the production here captures that well. The vocals are unique, which is a big plus. Most important of all, the songs are filled with hooks and all nine of them are memorable.
Rebel Truth were around from 1981 to 1983. This record came out in 1983 and has been bootlegged many times.

Four Walls Falling- Demo

Here is the Four Walls Falling demo.
There are six songs on this demo. Most of them went on to be on the 7" or the first LP. The song with no title, seems to be exclusive to the demo though (correct me if I'm wrong). This is still worth hearing because the versions of the songs here sound a bit different than the later versions, in just how the songs are put together. Maybe it's the production, but it sounds like some of the songs are played faster here.

Gut Instinct- Demo 1989

Here is the Gut Instinct demo from 1989.
Gut Instinct was a hardcore band from Baltimore, Maryland in the late 80's. They had a tough sound, not unlike some NYHC bands of the time, such as Breakdown or Raw Deal.
The 'hit' here is the song 'Right Wing Hype'. When I was growing up, I knew this moronic skinhead who was obsessed with this song, as he was into all sorts of loser Nazi stuff. He obviously never actually listened to the lyrics though. No one even liked him but he would somehow always find out where everyone was at and would just randomly show up everywhere. Even if people told him to go away, he would just linger around for hours. Once he was there though, the dude was hard to ditch too. One time we figured that if we bought him enough to drink, he would eventually have to go to the bathroom and then that would be the perfect chance to ditch him. So we bought this kid all varieties of those 'Big Gulp' drinks for hours, the big 64 ounce cups from the gas stations, but I think he was on to us, because he never went to the bathroom. He must have had a bladder the size of the Goodyear Blimp because he drank no less than three of those and never even mentioned having to go to the bathroom. I remember showing him a 'zine where there was a Gut Instinct picture and he got real bummed when he saw a black guy on stage!!! I wonder whatever happened to that guy. Anyways...
Besides this, there is another demo and a 7". That is about all I know about this band. Please post more info in the comments.
There is a discography that you can buy on Vicious Circle Records. An internet search will bring up many links to where you can get that.

District 9- Live On WNYU

Here is the District 9 set from when they played on WNYU in 1995.
Normally, I hate 90's NYHC, but this is an exception. This band is great. Some of the songs have the slow chunky parts that I don't like, but they pull it off because they also have a lot of fast parts that sound like 80's NYHC. The best part of the songs are the 'bust' mosh parts with the super catchy drumming, like on the intro that Supertouch played when they were on WNYU. So energetic and exciting.
There isn't anything particularly funny or noteworthy said between the songs, like on some other WNYU sets, but its slightly amusing how he catches himself every time he is about to swear. The music is what is important here, and these songs kill. The high point here is the song 'Stand Out', with the duel vocals and the Maximum Penalty-esque ending.
District 9 came from the remains of another NYHC band, Close Call, not to be confused with the late 90's Boston Hardcore band of the same name.

Sin 34- Die Laughing 7"

Here is the Sin 34 'Die Laughing' 7".
Sin 34 formed in 1981 and were involved in the great early 80's hardcore punk scene in LA. They are notable for being one of the few good bands to have a female singer. She could hold her own with anyone else, as you will see when you listen to the music. Another reason this band was well known was because their drummer was Dave Markey, creator of the great zine We Got Power. What a great zine that was, documenting the early LA/OC/HB scene from an insiders perspective. Besides all that, the music was great too. They had the speed of a lot of other bands of the time, but the occasional mid paced songs were just as powerful.
'Die Laughing' came out in 1982 and has five songs, all of which are great. There was an LP after this, but it's not as good as this 7".

Various Artists- Rodney On The ROQ: Volume One

Here is the excellent Rodney On The ROQ comp from 1980.
Rodney Bingenheimer was the DJ of the famous Rodney On The ROQ radio show in Los Angeles in the 80's. He was more than happy to play cool tunes from little known bands. He played a lot of records from early (and great) punk bands, many of whom would gain some amount of success if their songs went over well on the radio show. He also played rock and new wave material, but his show was known for the great support that it gave the early 80's LA punk scene.
MIke Ness once said this about the show, "I worked at a porn store for a while and we would hang out there all night, get drunk and listen to Rodney On The ROQ and hear all the great new bands".
There are so many classic songs on here, from bands such as Adolescents, Circle Jerks, Agent Orange, The Crowd, Simpletons, Rik L Rik, Black Flag, UXA, Nuns and lots more. Some of the bands here would end up using these songs on other records, but the versions here are gold, either way.
Volumes Two and Three would follow in 1981 and 1982. They are also great records (and I will be posting them on here) and they followed in the style of this one, featuring the best of early 80's LA punk and new wave.
This is one of my all time favorite records and I hope you enjoy it too!

Trip 6- Demo

Here is the Trip 6 demo. Trip 6 was fronted by legendary NYHC guy Tommy Ratt. He sang for Warzone when Raybeez still played drums. Later on, he sang for Rejuvenate.
Besides this demo, Trip 6 has a song on the 'New York Hardcore: The Way It Is' comp and a 7". The 7" is not nearly as bad as the horrendous cover art would lead you to believe.

Inside Out NY- Demo + Above All 7"

Here is the Inside Out NY demo and 'Above All' 7".
Inside Out NY was from New York (duh!) in the late 80's. The demo is ten songs, two of which 'Beat Life' and 'Cracking Up', went on to be on the 7". The 7" is only three songs. The first song is a regular song and an intro combined, but still, I think the band could have done better than a three song 7". Especially since the demo is pretty strong 'harder' New York hardcore. Comparisons can easily be made to bands like Uppercut or Outburst.
Two interesting side notes: Inside Out NY had two singers. They both had similar voices though, so it's not immediately obvious. Also, Alex from Side By Side was in this band for some time.

Life's Blood- Live On WNYU

Here is the Life's Blood set from when they played on WNYU.
Life's Blood were a great hardcore band from New York City. They formed in 1987. Their sound was hardcore, but they had smaller melodic elements on some songs and even oi! tinged parts from time to time. Another notable thing about their sound, was the monster guitar sound. The band knew how to write memorable songs and had their own sound. The lyrics were highly critical of things that were going on at the time. "This goes out to Ray Cappo, it's called Never Make A Change", somehow I don't think that went over too well at all.
Besides this set, there is a WFMU set, a 7", comp songs (on the 'Murders Among Us' comp and the 'New York Hardcore: Where The WIld Things Are' comp and the 'New Breed' tape comp) and a demo. It's all great and worth seeking out.
The band had singer problems. If you find live sets you can be treated to Jason (the singer from the 7") or Adam (the guitar player) singing. Also, I had notes that said a guy named Sean sings on the live tracks from the 'New Breed' comp (which I wish I had the whole set of.. those songs sound epic). But then I have seen him left out of other histories of the band. All variations of this band made some great music. I hope you enjoy it!

Uppercut- Live On WNYU

Here is the Uppercut set from when they played on WNYU.
Uppercut was a late 80's hardcore band from New York City. They had a harder sound, similar to bands like Outburst or Raw Deal. Besides this set, there is a demo, songs on the New York Hardcore: Where The Wild Things Are comp and a 12". The band is noted for the song 'Am I Clear?', which is a great song, but didn't exactly agree with the giant straight edge scene of the time. I will upload the demo at a later date, but the 12" was rereleased on Blackout Records a few years ago.
I think this is a great overview of the Uppercut material. The songs sound more urgent than on the 12" and sound a bit better than the ones on the demo. The demo and 12" are great though.

Nausea- Live On WNYU- 1988

Here is the Nausea set from when they played on WNYU in 1988.
Most people know Nausea from the 'New York Hardcore: The Way It Is' comp. Nausea stuck out from the 'popular' NYHC of the time because they sounded way different. They had this great Discharge meets NYHC vibe. I think they get overlooked alot because that sound is not what a lot of people were into at the time. But this stuff is great and just as powerful as anything else from that time.
Another thing that made Nausea different from other bands was that they had two singers. The two singers on this are Neil and Amy. And a neat trivia fact is that Jimmy (singer in Maximum Penalty) was the drummer in Nausea for over a year! Talk about contrast in musical styles! Haha.
I think this is the best stuff Nausea did and I hope you enjoy the music!

Up Front- Live On WNYU

Here is the Up Front set from when they played on WNYU.
Up Front was a hardcore band from New York City. They began in 1986/1987. They are most known for their songs on the 'X Marks The Spot' comp and the 'Spirit' LP, which some people claim is terrible and others claim is wonderful. It's all a matter of opinion really. Other early releases include a demo, which isn't too hot, but I will post if people want to hear it.
Up Front had a solid sound, a bit faster than most, kind of like Our Gang. They played on WNYU and, to me, I think that the set is the best representation of their sound, short of seeing them live. The live setting captures a lot of the fury and passion of seeing bands live, that is often lost on recordings.
In the late 90's, Larry Ransom put the best songs from the WNYU set on 7".

Maximum Penalty- Live On WNYU

Here is the Maximum Penalty set from when they played on WNYU.
Maximum Penalty was a hardcore band from New York City. They started in the late 80's and are still around today, in some form or another. They released a classic demo, which in my opinion, is one of the best releases to come out of New York City. They had two superb tracks on the New York Hardcore: Where The Wild Things Are. Also, there were other 7"'s and LP's, but those took on a slightly different sound than the stuff on the demo and the comps.
Almost all the material here is different in some way or another. It opens with the intro from the demo, but the end is totally different, with a guitar solo over it, that is actually quite memorable. Then they go into 'Living In Darkness' and 'Be Yourself' from the demo, which are pretty much the same songs. After that is a new song, that you can't hear the name of, followed by 'Friends You Once Had' which is not on the demo either. Then we get a mega slowed down version of 'Hate' from the demo and comp. They close with a song called 'Lifes Not Fair', which is not on the demo either. I am not too familiar with their later stuff, but the songs on here that are not on the demo, have the same style as the demo, but I do not think they are even on later releases.
Maximum Penalty had a great sound, similar to a lot of other NYHC bands of the time, such as Uppercut and Raw Deal, but they stood apart due to the fact that they had a singer who could actually sing. In fact, I was told that he makes a living as a studio singer or something along those lines. The music is so hard, yet soulful at the same time. They don't make bands like this anymore. Enjoy!

Nip Drivers- Oh Blessed Freakshow

Here is another long forgotten, and often overlooked, band from California. It is the Nipdrivers, and the record is 'Oh Blessed Freakshow'. Not a lot of people know about, or care about this band, but this record has always been one of my favorites, so I figure it would be good to share some more good music.
The Nip Drivers were from Torrance California. The music has that classic early 80's CA punk hardcore sound, but there are parts that are strange and dip in and out of various other styles, kind of like how the Feederz, or even The Vandals, did. In fact, they cover 'Have You Ever Been Mellow', which the Feederz also covered. There are some straight forward songs here and then some slower ones and they are all very powerful. The vocals are unique and makes the music stand apart from some of the more generic bands of the time.
If anyone has the 'Destroy Whitey' record from the Nip Drivers, please post it or tell me where I can get it. I have never heard that one and I would love to.

Funeral- Waiting For The Bomb Blast 7" ep + s/t 12" ep

Here are two personal favorites of mine. They are also long forgotten punk records with some amazing music on them!
Funeral came from Long Beach California. They were around in the early 80s, and both of these records were released in 1981. They had a straight forward sound on the first ep, the standout tracking being the powerful title track. Then on the s/t 12", they come into an amazing sound of their own. All the great elements of the first ep are still there, but they expand upon them and it really pays off. It is classic SoCal punk, but it has a sound of its own, backs with some of the greatest hooks and memorable choruses. 'Will To Live' starts with a great bouncy guitar line, it reminds me of being on the beach and not caring about anything except having fun. Later on, there is a song called 'Darkness On Your Doorstep', which is a lot slower and is really doomy sounding, but they totally pull it off without sounding cheesy. The first ep is great, but the 12" is all the greatness of that plus more, and I feel like I'm failing at describing this band.
Members of Funeral were in or went on to be in many other great bands, such a the Rik L Rik band, and made a lot more great music.
Anyway, what a great band! Check it out and I am sure you will not be disappointed! Enjoy!

ABombANation- Demo 1988

Here is another request fill! It is the ABombANation demo from 1988.
ABombANation formed in 1987 and played a lot of shows and then released this demo in 1988. The music is classic late 80's sounding New York Hardcore, but there is also an overwhelming sense a melody to a lot of the songs. I think the melodic overtones set them a part from a lot of other bands of the time. It wouldn't be off to say they had something in common with a band like Token Entry. The vocals are very clear and the clarity of the vocals really adds to the power of the music.
Three songs from this demo were also on the 'New Breed' comp. Later on there was an LP planned but that never materialized. If anyone has those tracks, please share them with me! There are also WNYU and WFMU sets out there and I would like to hear those, so if you have them, let me know!

Our Gang- Demo + Uprising '88 Demo + Unreleased 7" + WNYU + Lew's CDR

Here is another request fill! It is everything I have from Our Gang! Our Gang was a hardcore band from New York City in the late 80's. They fit in well with the NYHC scene of the time, but they also had their own unique style, which was cool and kept them from becoming a generic clone band. They definately played a bit faster than some bands of the time, kind of like Citizens Arrest, who they were friends with.
There are two demos here. One is just the "Demo' and the other is the "Uprising '88' demo. The 'Uprising '88' demo has all the songs that are on the "Demo" plus some extras. If I had to pick a favorite Out Gang release, it would be the 'Uprising '88' demo, as I think is the best representation of their sound.
I also included their set from when they played on WNYU. The sound is good and is another cool live overview of their material.
Next is the unreleased 7". This sounds different than the previous stuff, adding a lot of melody and some singing, instead of always yelling. There are a couple good songs on this, and it's worth hearing, but again, it's way different from their other stuff. Some of the songs are pretty catchy.
Finally, I included "Lew's CDR', which is just that, a CDR that Lew from the band made. I think it is mostly a discography of everything they did, but I included it anyway, in case I was missing versions of songs that are on other things.
Our Gang also had songs on the New Breed Comp, but those songs were included on Lew's CDR, so I didn't upload them separately.
Our Gang was pretty cool, had a lot of great songs and I hope you enjoy the music!

Red Rockers- Condition Red LP + Comp Song

Here is the fantastic Red Rockers 'Condition Red' LP. I also included their song from the Rodney On The ROQ Volume Two Comp. The song is on the LP, as well, but it is a different recording.
Red Rockers were a punk band from the early 80's. They were from San Francisco. They had a wonderful melodic sound, but it was different than the other melodic punk bands of the time. The music has a lot in common with The Clash or Stiff Little Fingers. In fact, I have often seen then referred to as a US version of The Clash. Either way, the music here is undeniably amazing. Every song is a hit and the crown jewel of this record is the song 'Can You Hear. The song is endlessly memorable with the best guitar and vocal hooks. There are the best 'woah' vocal parts combined with the lines of the chorus. This song will be stuck in your head for days, which is not a bad thing. The song 'Live Or Die' is another highlight of the record too. Unfortunately, after this LP, the band attempted to turn into a radio rock band, and semi succeeded with one radio hit, but the resulting records were really weak compared to the strength of this material. So check this record out and enjoy!

MDC- Live In Los Angeles

Here is a live set from MDC! The show is in Los Angeles in the early 80's. That is about all the information that I have about it though. If you know anything, let me know. The sound quality here is great. You can hear all the instruments and the vocals and some crowd interaction between songs. At the beginning you can hear Dave, ranting on and on about some stage manager who kept bothering him. It's pretty funny. MDC was way more 'serious', than a lot of other bands of the time, especially with the in between song talking. It's probably the exact opposite of that Vandals radio set that I posted a while back. Either way, MDC was still great and I think this set is great.
MDC were from Texas but moved to California later on. The music was great, fast hardcore. They didn't really have a lot of the pop or upbeat elements that a lot of bands did at that time, but the songs were still great and always memorable. 'I Remember' is one of my all time favorite songs. It is included in this live set. Enjoy!

Pig Children- Blood For The State 12"

It is the Pig Children 'Blood For The State' 12" from 1984. I didn't know too much about this band beforehand, but a quick search found this, written by a band member...
".. A bunch of friends who grew up in the same neighborhood in Buena Park. Just hanging out partying, and throwing shit at the establishment. Roger the long haired, cholo looking, punk as fuck, punk rocker was the glue binding this group together... Hanging out with Black Flag's Keith Morris' cousin, Willie Hilser before his untimely death. Rob the Slob and Denniss Gage, hung around the old Fullerton and L.A. punks. Rob the Slob could always be found in Hollywood with fellow Mercenaries Lino Lousy, John Macias, Mike Muir, Skinhead Ricky, and the Mexican Mohicans, or Arnel and the LADS. Hanging out at FEAR practices, and haunting the Starwood, and every other fucking venue now resigned to punk rock history... Rob used to battle with Bobby Brat, to see who would take the girl home for the night. Denniss "secretly stoned" Gage, along with the Fullerton punks... shit I wonder who tried to play bass for the Adolescents in the beginning... Ask Tony Reflex... Denniss is still in possession of Darby Crash's ponytail. Mike the Slag, the loud mouthed drunken, slob, etc... and Clyde Kabibie, the silent brains behind the subversive machine... the fucker could have written the anarchist cookbook... Both hooked up and started jamming apolitical tunes with La Mirada Punk Johnnie Cat Moreno... formed Patriots Dead after a short stint filling in for the original "Assassins" when Trent Adams tried to resurrect that band... Eventually, Patriots Dead evolved into Pig Children, and the rest is history. Seldom respected, always rejected..."
This record is pretty cool, fast hardcore, but with hooks and memorable tunes. Enjoy!

Here is the Don't No demo and 7". Don't No was, perhaps, the only hardcore band to come from Malibu California. They formed in 1981 and then in 1983, they recorded this demo in Venice. Then in 1985, they recorded The Real World 7", which also appears here. In 1986, there was an LP called 'Incite The Riot', which I do not have, so it's not here.
This band was great, fast hardcore. A lot of the poppier element, that was popular in CA at the time, is not as abundant here as it was in other bands of the time. That does not take away from the music at all though. Overall, the 7" has a tighter sound, but that is to be expected when a band has been together for four years. That's not to say that the demo is bad either, as it has my favorite Don't No songs on it.
Also, thank you to Phil from Don't No for directing me towards the demo. I had the 7" for years but could never find anyone who had the demo and then I get a nice note telling me where I could find it! Awesome. Solid guy.

In Your Face- Demo 1988 + WNYU + Comp Songs + The Grub 7"

Here is one quick request fill before I post a lot of west coast stuff! In Your Face was a great hardcore band from New York. They were around from 1987 to 1990. The band had members of Token Entry. In fact, I think the music here has a lot in common with Token Entry and even Gorilla Biscuits. This is a big file, but it has a lot of great music in it. First, there is the In Your Face demo from 1988. Then, I put the WNYU set, which is mostly demo songs. Also, I included two comp songs, one from the Seeing With New Eyes comp, which I planned on posting here at some point, but the In Your Face song fits with this post, so here it is. Finally, I included The Grub 7". It has a little bit different sound than the rest of their songs, adding a lot more melody than the previous stuff. It is my favorite stuff from then, but I'm sure people's opinions will differ. There is an unreleased LP from after the 7", but I didn't include it because I don't think it's too great or anything and all of the stuff here is better, in my opinion.

Under Pressure- Vengeance 1988 Demo + New Breed Comp song

Here is another request fill! It's the Under Pressure 1988 demo and their song from the New Breed tape comp. I believe Under Pressure were from New York in the late 80's. The demo came out in December of 1988 and the song on the New Breed comp is a rerecorded demo song, with much better sound qualities. The music has a lot in common with bands like Raw Deal and Outburst, but isn't a clone of those bands. That is about all I know, so if you know more, please post in the comments.

Reason To Believe- The Next Door 7"

Here is the Reason To Believe 'The Next Door' 7".
Reason To Believe formed in 1987 and had a seven song demo. Then in 1988, they recorded this 7" for Nemesis Records. This record is a keeper because of its originality. They take elements that a lot of CA hardcore bands had at the time, mainly the speed and honest lyrics, but there is a giant DC rock edge to the songs. These songs are totally powerful and memorable. This record has been out of print for years. There was an LP that came after this, but I never thought it was as great as this 7". Enjoy the great music here!

Occupied Territory- A Start Demo '89

Here is another NYHC demo from the vaults!
It's the Occupied Territory 'A Start' demo from 1989. This band was around in the late 80's, in NY, and in addition to this, there are two other demos and a set on WNYU. The other two demos are impossible to find, one being a boom box recorded tape and the other one was apparently never even released. I'd like to hear both of them, but for now, we have to settle for this.
The music is harder late 80's styled NYHC and while certainly not 'classic' by any means, it is still good and definately worth a few listens. The image at the top of the post is a scan of the insert that came with the demo. Enjoy!

NY Hoods- both demos + WNYU + interview

Here are both NY Hoods demos, Built As One and Neutral. Also, there is a live set, with interview, from the Crucial Chaos radio show on WNYU in 1987. The music is great NYHC, on the harder side, like Breakdown.
This is a request fill from the comment section. I honestly don't know a whole lot about this band and internet searches turned up nothing, not even one picture, haha. If someone wants to fill me in with some background info about this band, I would appreciate it alot!
Also, the file is from a dude named Mark Anthony, on another board. I had both demos already but not files with quality sound like these. So thanks to that guy for the great contribution!

No For An Answer- Live In Connecticut- 11/18/88

Here is a good quality live set from No For An Answer.
No For An Answer were a straight edge band from California in the late 80's. They have a 7", an LP and live songs on the Free For All comp. There are also numerous lives sets besides this one floating around. The LP and 7" have been rereleased and are not hard to find.
No For An Answer was pretty cool, a bit faster than most straight edge bands at the time and the lyrics were introspective and definately not generic. Enjoy!

Here is an S.O.D. rehearsal from 1985. This is from before the 'Speak English Or Die' LP came out. There are sixteen songs on this and the sound quality is surprisingly good for a rehearsal tape.
Everyone knows this band and so I won't blab on for paragraphs about them. They were one of the best crossover bands ever.

Battalion Of Saints- 1982 Demos

Here is one, possibly two, Battalion Of Saints demos from 1982.
Battalion Of Saints was a great punk band from San Diego in the early 80's. They had a great early 80's punk hardcore sound, a little faster than most. But the speed didn't take away from the music. All the songs are filled with hooks and memorable choruses. They frequently played in LA and with other bands from LA.
I say that there are possibly two demos in this download because some of the songs have way different sound quality, cleaner, than the others. Some songs are repeated twice too. I asked some people who would know and they cannot recall more than one demo, but who knows, this is 26 years old. The great thing about it is that it still holds up really well.
All the classic songs are here than went on to be on great records, beefmasters, cops are out, i wanna make you scream and more.
I will be adding the Fighting Boys 12" and the Second Coming LP soon, so look out for those!

Bustin' Out- Demo 1987

Here is the Bustin' Out demo. This band was around in the late 80's in New York City. The music has a good NYHC sound typical of the late 80's. The vocals are a little different, more in the spoken real loudly way, rather than the yelling of screaming way. The vocals reminded me a lot of Suicidal Tendencies, even though the band sounds nothing like then.
I have seen their logo on flyers for some great shows but that's all. I think they have a song or two on a 7" comp. Besides that, I have no other information on this band. If you know something, please post it in the comments and I will add it to this post.

Turning Point- Live- 2/17/90

Here is a live set from the great New Jersey straight edge band. I got this set from a good bootleg trading friend. The note attached to it says that the show was in Pennsylvania on 2/17/90.
This set is from before the LP came out. You can hear him asking for pictures and for people to have fun so they get more good pictures for their upcoming LP that came out on New Age Records. The set is a good mix of demo, 7" and LP songs.
I don't have a lot to say about this band that most people won't already know. I always liked the demo and 7" way more than the LP, but the LP isn't bad by any means. There is a cool discography that you can buy from Jade Tree Records. The demo and 7" are where it's at, for me at least. The songs sound so angry and urgent. You can't go wrong with those two releases.

Circle One- Patterns Of Force

Here is the great Circle One 'Patterns Of Force' LP from 1983. This is another one of my favorite records. A lot of people had problems with this band, whether it be because of the lyrics, the violence that surrounded the band or their fans, but either way, I think this record is fantastic.
Circle One started in 1980. They played their first show in 1981 and their first show was also the first Suicidal Tendencies show. The band had a large following, a lot of them were a part of "The Family" the group of people led by singer John Macias. He was a giant, built man, who had a lot of people looking up to him. A lot of people who knew him said he had his problems but he was a good friend and a good person. They said he had a menacing aura about him and that he wasn't afraid to stand up for himself. A few times he even knocked out policemen who were hassling random punk kids. He also started P.U.N.X., which promoted and put on punk shows in LA/OC but had their own security, in an attempt to keep it safer.
I like this record a lot and I hope you enjoy it! If people like this, I will upload some demos and live stuff too!

Channel 3- Live On KPFK Radio, Los Angeles, 2/11/82

Here is a great radio set from the amazing Channel 3. This set is from the same radio station that hosted the Vandals set that I posted a while back.
Channel 3 was from south Los Angeles and they formed in 1980. Channel 3 took that classic LA punk sound and added a lot of melody and memorable hooks and came up with some fantastic songs. They had some super fast songs, typical of the time period, but personally, I think they were best when the songs added the melodic edge. That stuff is untouchable. This radio set covers all the hits from that time period with lots of great crowd interaction.
Besides this set, there are numerous 7"'s and LPs, all of which are good. Be sure to get 'I've Got A Gun' and 'After The Lights Go Out'. They are both classic records and will not disappoint.

No Crisis- She's Into The Scene

This is one of my all time favorite punk records!
This was originally released as a six song mini LP. They also had a song on Rodney On The Roq Volume III.
This band was around in the early 80's and they sound exactly what you think a band from LA/OC in the early 80s would sound like. Fast, catchy and super memorable songs. 'She's Into The Scene' is the big song here, its backed by the catchiest piano rhythm ever! Pianos and punk? Who cares! It works so good here. This song won't leave your head ever. I'm not trying to downplay the other songs either, as they are all hits and just as good! There is a song on here, "Over Your Head', which later on would become an Aggression song called 'Money Machine' when a band member from No Crisis ended up in Aggression.
This was produced by someone from The Dickies and the production is great.
I also added their song from the 'You Can't Argue With Sucksess' Compilation LP. It is an earlier version of 'Change Your Name'.
Like I said, one of my personal favorite records of all time and I hope you enjoy it.

Wasted Youth- Demo For Reagan's In LP

Here is another one from the vaults! Wasted Youth were a great hardcore punk band from Los Angeles in the late 70's and early 80's. Their Reagan's In LP is a great example of early 80s hardcore. The actual Reagan's In LP has been reissued numerous times and so I won't post that. But I will post this cool demo of that LP.
This has music that is very similar to what appeared on the LP but the vocals are different. The vocals sound a bit different than the LP, he phrases some things differently and you can hear the engineer talking between songs.
Great band. Check it out!

Vandals- two songs from the 'When Men Were Men And Sheep Were Scared' Compilation...

Here are two more great songs from the Vandals. These songs were both of their contribution to the 'When Men Were Men And Sheep Were Scared' LP from 1985. Both of these songs have Stevo on vocals, or obviously I wouldn't be posting them.
I did not post the entire comp because I'm told it is about to be reissued and I try to post only rare or out of print things on here. Either way, the Vandals songs are great. One of them is 'Frogstomp'. When they played this song, they would throw out dead frogs into the crowd and people would throw then back or smash them all over the ground. I have a video of this happening. One day I will post that too. I hope you enjoy these two songs.

Vandals- Live On KPFK Radio, Los Angeles

Here is one from the vaults! This is a set from when the Vandals played on KPFK Radio in Los Angeles in the early 80's. The sound quality is superb and there is a lot of great in between song talking and other fun from Stevo. That is another reason that this set is great, because is features Stevo on vocals. What a truly great frontman, always energetic sounding and very funny and entertaining between songs.
When they played this set, the radio station let them bring a lot of their friends with them, which was a bad (good) idea. Here is something I found that a guy wrote, talking about a conversation he had with Stevo, "Oh something I remember him telling me about this show was that the radio station lady was pretty wigged out about all the commotion they made (lots of smoke bombs, profanity and other tomfoolery - as was often the case at any Vandals show) and finally just pulled the plug on them at the end. Listen to how stressed out her voice is in the last track (just before they were about to go into “Frog Stomp”), when she gives the station ID or whatever." You can hear her a couple times in the background in between songs yelling at people.
This is a great set from a classic band. There are eleven songs. I hope you enjoy it!

Count Me Out- Live On WPBR- Radio Set

Count Me Out was a great hardcore band from Virginia. They were around in the late 90's until about 2002. Their sound was classic straight edge hardcore and they were often compared to Chain Of Strength, especially the vocals.
Besides this radio set, there is a demo, a wonderful 7" and two LPs. They are all worth checking out, although I didn't get too into the second LP.
I saw them many times and their shows were great. Definately not a band that just stood there and played. They were always jumping and having fun. One time I saw them in Washington DC and the singer had on these super bright red shoes and then the next week a friend of mine wanted to get shoes like that, although I didn't know why since I thought they looked like clown shoes.
Before this band was called Count Me Out, they were called What The Fuck? True story.

Various Artists- Eastern Front Compilation

Here is the Eastern Front compilation.
There are some fantastic bands on here. You get songs from Channel 3, Wasted Youth, Battalion Of Saints, Shattered Faith, JFA, Circle One and a few more. There aren't any bad songs on here either, so it's a guaranteed winner.
This is all live songs and the sound quality is superb for all the bands. I don't know if these songs are all exclusive to this comp, but I figure the studio versions most likely appeared elsewhere.
This is a great comp with a lot of fantastic bands on it.
Sidenote: if anyone can upload the Circle One 'Patterns Of Force' LP and the 'Survive' LP (which has both demos and the full live set that the song on this is taken from) and any comp songs, that would be great!

Gorilla Biscuits- A Puzzle Of 38 Pieces Bootleg

Here is a Gorilla Biscuits bootleg. There are thirty eight songs. Most of them are live, but there are a few that sound like they were recorded in the studio.
I don't know when any of this is from, so if anyone reading this knows, write to me.
The good thing here is that the live stuff has great sound quality. There are also A LOT of cover songs mixed in with the live sets, so that is good, depending on your musical tastes.
There isn't a lot to write about this band that most people reading this already won't know, so enjoy the music!

H-Street- Demo 1998

Here is the H-Street demo. This band was from Austria and around in the late 90's. Besides this demo, there is a 7" comp that came with a fanzine that has three of these demo songs on it. There is also a 7" that came out in 1999. The 7" is also good, so get that if you can find it.
Musically, H-Street took the late 80's straight edge sound and added some melody. They had some octave guitar parts, which added to the songs, since they were not overused. The singer of this band was pretty good, I thought the vocals fit the music quite well and sounded sincere. Great band.

China White- Dangerzone ep

Here is the great Dangerzone 12" ep from Huntington Beach hardcore punk band China White.
They took their name from the drug that had killed Darby Crash and their music was punk with a very small amount of metallic riffing. There are six songs on this and they are all hits. Song four has a great galloping riff during the main part of the song that is very memorable, as is the title track.
This band, along with TSOL and The Crowd, were the center of the attention in Orange County. Those bands put on violent shows but backed it with classic music.

Here is the cover of the Dangerzone 12". Famous photographer Edward Colver was on his way home from a show and he walked past a murder scene, the body covered in a sheet, police cars, the whole deal, he took a quick picture and went on his way. That picture is the cover for this record.

Social Distortion- 1980 Demo

What a great band! Social Distortion has been around for almost thirty years now and they still release quality records. Not many bands can claim that., most burn out after one or two records. I can listen to any Social Distortion record and still enjoy it, whether it be the first LP or the most recent one.
Here is a four song demo that I have. Three of these songs, All The Answers, Moral Threat and Playpen, are classics and appear on other releases. The fourth song, Smash The Glass, is a different version of the song Telling Them, that is on the first LP. The recording on this is pretty raw, since it is a demo, but the signature sound is still there.

Rest In Pieces- My Rage LP

Here is the classic Rest In Pieces 'My Rage' LP. This is fantastic NYHC, one of the best hardcore records ever, imo.
It has two guys from Straight Ahead in it, and while it doesn't rip off Straight Ahead, you can definately hear an influence.
There are eleven songs and all of them are 'hits'. The lyrics definately take a 'tongue in cheeck' approach to the lyrics, but they don't really go into the realm of silly at all. They are fun but have meaning behind them.
The music is not completely unlike Straight Ahead, but like I said, it really isn't a rip off. There are some monster mosh parts in here and the final song is all over the map, blazing away, until it ends in a giant clash of instruments, including a non cheesy solo that fits the music perfectly.
Check it out!
Besides this, there is a 7" that is nowhere near as good as this LP. There is a 2nd LP, called Under My Skin, which take a slightly metal turn, and despite a couple good songs, it is a pretty bad record. There are a couple demos as well. One of them is called 'The Nose Demo' and it is mostly songs that are on this LP and it is very good. The sound quality is like the LP but a little more raw. I will post that eventually as well.

Four Walls Falling- 7"

Here is the Four Walls Falling 7" that was released on Axtion Packed Records in 1989. Four Walls Falling always had a unique sound, combining the fury of late 80's New York Hardcore with a lot of melody. It made a real unique sound, especially backed by good lyrics and powerful vocals. There is an LP after this, called Culture Shock, which is also good. It takes the sound, and some songs, found on this 7" and adds in a little modern hardcore element. Still powerful and amazing.
This band was around in the late 80's and early 90's and one of the first times I went out of town for a show was to go to a show and Four Walls Falling was playing and I was so stoked to see them. I had the LP and a dub of the 7". Well, we got about halfway to the show and the car we were using broke down and I never made it to that show. I was definately more bummed about missing Four Walls Falling than I was about having to walk miles on the side of the free way to go call someone to help us.
Anyways, there are four songs on this 7" and they all stand the test of time. Enjoy!

Ten Yard Fight- Last Show Live

Here is some audio from the last Ten Yard Fight show. There is a Minor Threat cover in there and song six has guest vocals from Porter (Floorpunch).
Ten Yard Fight were one of the first bands in the big fun hardcore revival in the mid 90s. What a great time! We spend many hours in cars driving around to see them and others play wonderful shows. Mt personal favorite show I saw them at was the Yuletide Youthcrew Show in Maryland at the 180 Club. That place was perfect show hardcore shows. So many great bands played that day. Fastbreak and Floorpunch were good that day too. During Floorpunch, the speakers were tipping over from a massive mosh and dive fest on stage. So much fun.

Unit Pride- Live On WNYU

Here is the WNYU set from Unit Pride, a great straight edge band from the late 80's. The singer from this band, Eric Ozene, later on was in Redemption 87 and the Nerve Agents. I suppose the only bad thing about this set is that he is not singing on it! Ha! Instead, it is a fill in, named Corey, that the band used for an east coast tour. I'm always bummed when hardcore band switch singers for whatever reason, but this set is still a good listen.

Besides this set and the 7", there is a demo. The demo has a great song called The Choice Is Yours and it starts with one one those super catchy bass lines. The 7" and demo are on a discography CD that can still be ordered, so I won't post them, but check out this WNYU set.

Citizens Arrest- Live On WNYU

Here is the great Citizens Arrest show from WNYU. There are eight songs.
Citizens Arrest was a hardcore band from New York City in the last 80's and early 90's. Besides this, there is a demo, 7" and an LP. The band broke up right before the LP was released. The band was speedier than most and combined some angry vocals. I see lots of crust dudes and powerviolence dudes with CXA shirts and patched but Citizens Arrest was never played either of those styles. The speed and fury was there, but they had a NYHC edge, imo, and it all came together into a wonderful band.
Citizens Arrest side note: if you ever see Friday The 13th part 8, there is a scene where Jason walks up to three punk guys hanging out, well the one with the chain is the singer of Citizens Arrest!

Enuf- Demo 1988

Here is the great demo from Enuf. It came out in 1988. This was high on my want list when used to mail my trade lists to the people I traded with, but no one ever seemed to have it. Then the internet came along and my collection doubled within a year, as now I could correspond with people daily, instead of waiting days for the mail to come and go. Hey! Thanks for coming here and reading this!

I hope to provide lots of reasons to come back in the future.

Why another blog? Because I want a way to make hard to find, out of print, live, demo, etc. items available to people like me, who love this kind of music.

What kind of music is that? I love all kinds of music but the kinds I love best is hardcore and punk. I love NYHC, late 80's straight edge music, early 80's punk and lots of modern stuff too. I'm not into that 'heavy hardcore' junk though, so there won't be any of that here.

I've been into this music for many years and I've been a collector of things that I love for my entire life, so music was no different. I have a huge collection of records, 'zines and shirts. It's hard to share those with people, but luckily, I have an enormous collection of live sets, demos, radio sets, rehearsals, etc. from many different bands. Tape trading used to be my favorite thing but the days of tapes are gone and now we have MP3's. Which is good and bad, I guess, but good for the purpose of this blog. I plan on sharing many of the great items I have saved up for years and years. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
